You know that old saying “the cobbler’s kids have no shoes”? That whatever industry you are in that area of your life is likely lacking? Chefs live off frozen pizza, accountant’s taxes are always filed late, an event planner kid’s birthday party is AmazonPrimed plates and pizza delivery? Well, in the professional organizer side of […]

Not All Hangers Are Created Equal

Let’s be honest, you probably haven’t put too much thought into hangers over the years, am I right? Well in my line of work I see a LOT of hangers and if I have learned anything it is that not all hangers are created equal. Wire, tube, velvet, wood, suit, padded, skirt, oh my! When […]

Tips for Designing and Organizing Your Closet

4 Ways to Store Purses & Clutches

When it comes to closet organization, there are categories that easier to tackle than others. That means keeping categories, like work blouses, towards the front of your closet, and giving priority placement to the shoes that are in your weekday rotation. While a lot of closet storage and organization is simple (i.e. requiring just a hanger or some shelving), there is a category that tends to trip people up: purses and clutches.

Client Before and After: Personalizing the layout for a busy working parent

If you don’t love your closet then you can probably relate to the “band-aid” fixes. You know, the products that you think will solve your problems and while they might work a little bit, sometimes it’s the closet itself that needs to get re-done.

We recently redesigned our client’s closet because–like many of our clients–she knew that there had to be a better layout which would make it easier for her to keep up with. The thing is, not all closets are created equal. Some closets have a combination of long hang and short hang, shelves and shoe racks, but more often than not is a closet perfect for your needs without a little bit of tweaking.

5 tips for transitioning your wardrobe between seasons

During the transition between seasons I find myself reaching for the “in between” items. The light jackets and sweaters are the items that I rarely shop for but honestly they probably get the most wear!I know I’m not alone, as we have several clients requesting closet organization and refreshes. The turn of the season brings the “out with the old, in with the new” mentality, but in my line of work I have seen time and time again that it is more difficult for people to practice what they preach. I get it! So, here are the tips that I tell all of my clients. There are no strict rules that you have to follow, and honestly very little time that goes into it if you keep up with the process seasonally.
