The weekend is a time where I’m able to focus on a couple of projects from my ongoing to-do list, and I’m looking forward to getting my house totally back together after our spring break trip (I mean, I always forget how much laundry it entails!).

A few months ago I hosted a workshop event called Cleanse Your Closet with the consignment gurus from The RealReal. The workshop was held at the inspiring BUREAU coworking + event space, and we spent the evening chatting all things closets, including how to create the best closet layout for your space, how to organize your clothing, and how to handle situations like knowing when to consign an item, how to handle sentimental items, and how to store out of season clothing.

I recently spoke with Jessica Ashley, host of the Single Mom Nation podcast. It’s an honest girlfriend to girlfriend conversation where we talk about…well, marriage crap.As a former single mother, I discuss with Jessica Ashley how to move forward with you life when you are single parenting and have to deal with the mental and physical clutter that is left over from your marriage. I was a single mom for many years and have helped other individuals going through divorce or loss, so this topic is one that deeply resonates with me.

When working in my clients’ homes I always take into account their existing aesthetic before introducing organizing products to their space. While I tend to lean on more a neutral palette, I also like to tie in fun prints, textures, and pops of color so that anything that is brought into the house is cohesive with everything else going on design-wise.

And just like *that* a decade has gone by. I’m sharing my thoughts on it all below, and trust me when I say that I tried to be brief. Stick around to the end of this post because there’s something in it for you!

When Monday mornings roll around I rely heavily on my family’s morning routine to get us up and out the door. After a fun weekend full of plans I know that I have to account for an extra slow pace to get my twins to school and to get my workday started. As I tell my clients and have shared on the blog before, successful organization relies on creating systems that work for YOU.

Years ago when my identical twins were in preschool I remember them coming home from school with a gift for me around Thanksgiving. Their teachers had helped the students turn their handprints into little turkeys, which they dried out and then framed for each of the parents. To me, it was the most thoughtful gift that I could have received (#proudparent). The art of their tiny hands immediately made me feel proud to be their mom and brought me joy, which is something that I try to keep in mind while choosing holiday gifts for everyone on my list.

I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving! I’ll be spending today eating leftovers for lunch (they are the best, right?) and am looking forward to a longer than normal weekend with family. Before I hop offline I’m going to snag a couple of items that are on serious Black Friday sale right now.

I wanted to keep it quick since I’m sure you’ve only got a handful of minutes to spare today while preparing for the day’s festivities. If I’m being honest, I struggled with what to say today because I don’t want to come off as self-centered or braggy when listing out what I’m thankful for. The thing is, I couldn’t ignore the urge to reflect on everything that has brought me gratitude this year, and what better time to share it than on Thanksgiving?

How was your weekend? We went to a family matinee and saw Wonder. As expected, I cried the entire time (I wasn’t alone!)…but I can’t recommend this movie enough. Such a great message to spread kindness! After the movie we were out running errands and popped into CB2, one my favorite stores because their storage and home decor is always on point. Of course, my pink-loving daughter beelined to this adorable flamingo and since we’ve been looking for a solution for her growing jewelry collection we gave it a go.
