Hi! Hope your new year is so far, so fab. We’ve been reflecting on ours. . .

Happy 2016! This post will be longer than usual, but we have a lot of catching up to do! Then, let’s get organized! The end of 2015 was both exciting and overwhelming. My assistant of five and a half years left, even more clients came to us with big projects — from closet design to professional organizing to corporate events to organized moves (some out of state!) — and we decided to merge Rachel and Company and Organized in a Box, all under the umbrella of Rachel and Company. And all of these things were leading up to Get Organized Month in January, when many new clients came to us wanting to get organized in preparation for the new year and starting off on the “right” foot.

You know, a lot of times, we think we can do it all by ourselves. . . handle everything that is thrown our way and keep it organized. I mean, we’ve all done it before. . . but when life gets in the way, in situations we cannot control, even the most organized people need help.

Stacy London of TLC’s Love, Lust, or Run called me “one of the most detail oriented people” she knows, but believe me, if it weren’t for my love for all things organizing, I may have run away from 2016! Instead, I stepped back for moment, and evaluated my current situation: business is thriving, I am passionate about what I do, but I am only one person, and each and every client deserves the best. So, I asked myself questions. What is working, and what is not? Where can I bring in help? How might I benefit from experts, like my clients do with my professional organizing services? How can I get back to doing what I love the most and what clients have been asking of me, like more free advice in different forms, online classes, workshops, etc.

I mean, technically, I can do it myself. Yes, I think we all can — in a dream world, do it all- without all of life’s Snowzillas.

However, what does doing it all really mean? I am sure you can relate. Our schedules and routines get messed up. Literal blizzards prevent us from going to work. We lose our planners and to do lists. We parent alone. We have work and personal deadlines that we don’t meet. But also, new and exciting opportunities come about. We celebrate life events and plan special birthday parties for our kids.

For all of life, we want to be most organized and fully present in the moment. We want to forget all the monkeys running around in our heads, telling us everything that needs to be done. We don’t want to have to focus on the physical clutter that is in turn creating mental clutter.

So, I decided to finally take my own advice. I would rather save time, money, hassle, etc, in the long run, by employing experts in their fields, so one thing I did was expand the team at Rachel and Company. I can’t wait for you to meet all of our new members, and a lucky few you have already gotten to work with them already!

And now it’s your turn, are you going to take what you know is your best advice on how to get things more organized? What steps will you take TODAY, even a small one, to feel that much more organized with your time and space?

Accountability was a huge thing for me once my team was in place. And I want to do the same for you. Share this blog post with others and make sure to leave a comment with the one step you will be taking today.

XOXO Rachel
